The Background

Veza Drainage Ltd is a family-owned business established in 2015 by Jeremy and Lyn Veza. Since their establishment, they have expanded into four full-time drainage crews. To date, they have completed numerous, high-level contracts across Auckland and Waikato with the likes of Hick Bros, Dempsey and Wood, Lite Civil, and Mackenzie and Palmer. The company's qualified drainlayers are highly skilled and experienced at what they do. They pride themselves on their efficiency and safe practices. Because the company operates in the greater Auckland region and covers all aspects of drainage for all commercial and residential developments they require a mobile application to help improve the company's productivity and performance transitioning the company's position to the digital landscape. Developing an internal business mobile app can greatly increase staff efficiency rates by streamlining work processes. Staff members can use the mobile app features as tools to discuss strategies, exchange documents and retrieve updates in real-time mobilising themselves more effectively.

The UX Challenge

The company required remote support for their staff and business operations, which can make internal collaboration a hassle when workers are not all in the same place all the time. My main role was to lead the creative portion of the project. By providing the direction for the design solution I was able to utilise a style guide and design system so that everyone involved could execute the details.

The UX Approach

My team will create an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. Designing and developing an internal business mobile application for Veza will enable its staff members to upload documents including timesheets. Extra features will be implemented to edit and exchange documentation including real-time messaging between staff members. This will dramatically improve efficiency, productivity, cooperation, and communication skills from top to bottom.

The Design Process

EMPATHISE how people approach efficient business by conducting an online survey, DEFINE the user and application requirements by identifying design features for their application, IDEATE mood-boards and sitemaps to identify brand values and PROTOTYPE design solutions using low and high fidelity mockups, TEST prototype on real users and using feedback to improve and iterate, DEVELOP the product from the prototype and test on real users, re-iterate on feedback to fine-tune improvements.

The Design Framework

framework was put in place to help my team collect data that would help road map the client's objectives during the research phase of the project. Firstly, we conducted an ONLINE SURVEY: to identify data (Survey) that provide the services for the organisation and its staff (CBT tables).

A design system was put in place to allow our team to group all our design elements together to design the application for the prototyping phase of the project.
